When you record your podcast at HGAB Studios, we provide you with comprehensive audio and video files to facilitate efficient editing and production. Here’s an overview of the files you’ll receive and guidance on how to use them effectively:
Audio Files from the RØDECaster Pro

At HGAB Studios, our RØDECaster Pro captures high-quality multitrack audio recordings, where each audio input is recorded on a separate track. This allows for detailed adjustments in post-production, such as isolating voices or tweaking individual microphone levels. The RØDECaster Pro saves these as polyWAV files, which contain multiple tracks within a single file.
Accessing and Editing Multitrack Audio
To work with multitrack recordings, you’ll need a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) that supports polyWAV files. Many DAWs can import these files and automatically separate them into individual tracks. If your DAW doesn’t support polyWAV files, you can use the RØDECaster Pro’s companion app to convert them into separate WAV files for each track.
Video Files from the ATEM Mini Pro ISO
For video, HGAB Studios uses the ATEM Mini Pro ISO, which provides:
- Program File: This file includes the live-switched video feed with all cuts and transitions made during recording, along with the stereo audio mix from the RØDECaster. This file is especially helpful if you’ve worked with our podcast engineer, as it reflects the intended final structure of your episode and is 90% ready for distribution.
- Individual Camera Feeds: Each camera’s feed is recorded separately, allowing for flexibility in post-production editing. These files enable you to adjust camera angles or correct any switching decisions made during the live recording.
Editing Workflow for Optimal Efficiency
To streamline your editing process:
- Import Files into Your Editing Software: Load the program file and individual camera feeds into your video editing software. For audio, import the multitrack files into your DAW.
- Sync Audio and Video: Ensure that all audio and video tracks are synchronized. The program file’s audio can serve as a reference point for aligning the multitrack audio and individual video feeds.
- Review the Program File: Watch the program file to identify any sections that may require adjustments. Since this file includes the live-switched cuts and transitions, it often represents the final structure of your episode.
- Make Necessary Edits:
- Video: If you need to change camera angles or correct transitions, replace sections of the program file with footage from the individual camera feeds.
- Audio: Use the multitrack audio files to adjust levels, apply effects, or remove unwanted noise from specific channels.
- Finalize the Edit: Once satisfied with the video and audio edits, export the project in your desired format, ready for distribution.
Additional Tips
- Backup Original Files: Always keep a copy of the original recordings before making any edits.
- Use Markers: Marking key moments during recording can make the editing process more efficient.
- Familiarize Yourself with Your Software: Understanding your editing software’s capabilities can significantly speed up the process.
